According to chassidic teachings, Yom Kippur falling on Shabbat doesn't "deprive" us of the pleasures which Shabbat normally affords us. Rather the extremely holy nature of Yom Kippur accomplishes the same objective...
Balak hated the Jews—but for good reason; in his estimation, they presented a mortal threat to him. Balaam, on the other hand, like so many anti-Semites throughout the ages, hated the Jews for no reason at all...
If it's true that it's the effort that counts, then BP should get a Congressional medal of honor. So, is what we've been told all along true, that effort is the main thing?

Was anything accomplished? Is there any point in agreeing on a goal, if there is no consensus regarding its implementation?

We'll hear or see something, or someone fails to come through for us in a certain area, and we immediately draw conclusions, pronounce judgment, and already map a course of action to redress the perceived wrong—only to later learn of the larger context...
I'm building my spiritual photo album. Hopefully, all the pictures will be high resolution, and all graced with genuine smiles. But perhaps I'm missing out on something...
Two critiques. One claims that the U.S. is too harsh. Another arguing that it is too soft.
